New Residence at Orakei
A small site was all that was needed to provide space for this new home with two living areas, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The warmth of cedar cladding was combined with the strength and durability of precast concrete to create a warm, relaxing and enjoyable home for a growing family. Construction cost was surprisingly low, given the quality specification and high level of finishes. See project slide show.

Kohimarama Interior Renovation
An unimproved sixties home in the Eastern Suburbs was an ideal blank canvas for renovations, to provide new entry stairs, bathrooms and kitchen, as well as related improvements to the living spaces. The original modernist-influenced design translated very well into a contemporary design, and the result was a completely updated home with the original character intact. A specialist designer was engaged to design the kitchen. See project slide show.

Orakei Reclad and Renovation
It's hard to believe that this sad, dated, leaky eighties townhouse could be transformed into a smart, up to date, reliable home, but we did it. At the same time the kitchen and bathrooms were modernised, and a new rooftop living room added to take in a fantastic Auckland view. See project slide show.

Michael Park School Kindergarten
It was a privilege to design a renovation and expansion to the Kindergarten Early Childhood Centre for Michael Park Rudolf Steiner School. New buildings were successfully integrated with existing, binding them together to create a cohesive yet articulated grouping maintaining residential scale. The Steiner design philosophy was respected with the use of natural, untreated materials, and the strongly identifiable Steiner style. This is a very eco-friendly, sustainable kindergarten early childhood centre, which provides a warm, nurturing environment for the first steps of education. See project slide show.

Michael Park School Library
Michael Park Rudolf Steiner School required that their new library and I.T. suite embraced Steiner's design principles of satisfying social, physical and spiritual needs. Materials are selected with strong emphasis on sustainability and connection to nature. The library is for both the junior and senior school, and contains specific elements to encourage enjoyment of the written word. The building has been carefully positioned within tight site constraints, minimising impact and nestles among mature native trees. See project slide show.

Orakei Additions and Reclad
This ten year old home was extended to meet the requirements of a growing family, and re-clad to achieve full Building Code compliance and an up-to-date Code Compliance Certificate for the whole building. The choice of stained vertical cedar weatherboards, in shiplap profile, accentuates the sharp, clean lines. Plywood soffits lighten the exterior spaces, and exterior shading controls summer heat gain. See project slide show.
